Monitor Commitments

One of specific goals in generic goal “Monitor Project against Plan” is monitor commitments against those identified in the project plan.

Basically, a plan that provides the basis for performing and controlling the project’s activities, which addresses the commitments to the project’s customer.

Project planning includes estimating the attributes of the work products and tasks, determining the resources needed, negotiating commitments, producing a schedule, and identifying and analysing project risks. Iterating through these activities may be necessary to establish the project plan.

Typical work product in this goal is “Records of commitment reviews”.

To implement this specific goal, simply follow practices below:
  • Regularly review commitments (both external and internal) by holding review meetings.
  • Identify commitments that have not been satisfied or that are at significant risk of not being satisfied.
  • Document the results of the commitment reviews.
